Paal Nillssen-Love

Graduate of the Academy of Music in Kraków with distinction, where she studied under Prof. Wiesław Kwaśny, as well as the Fryderyk Chopin University of Music in Warsaw, specializing in jazz violin under Dr. Mateusz Smoczyński. Finalist of the Zbigniew Seifert International Jazz Violin Competition.
In 2025, she released her debut album something holy? featuring renowned musicians such as Piotr Damasiewicz, Szymon Mika, Michał Aftyka, and Bartosz Szablowski. She co-creates the Damasiewicz/Kryńska Duo and ÄETHER (Amalia Umeda, Maëlle Desbrosses, Adèle Viret). She has performed on stage with numerous artists, including Dominik Wania, Shinpei Ruike, Raphael Rogiński, and has also joined the international band Large Unit led by Paal Nilssen-Love.

Her music is a unique blend of improvisation, jazz, contemporary music, and electronics, making her one of the standout figures on the artistic scene.

In 2015, Aleksandra Kryńska began her studies at the Academy of Music in Kraków in the class of Prof. Wiesław Kwaśny. A year later, she started collaborating with the Kraków Philharmonic Orchestra Sinfonietta Cracovia, actively participating in concerts alongside artists such as Albrecht Meyer, Krzysztof Penderecki, the Labeque Sisters, Gábor Boldoczki, and Jurek Dybał.

In 2017, she established a partnership with Cracovia Music Agency, which began after the Inaugural Concert of the Summer Jazz Festival Cracow with Ivo Mendes at the ICE Congress Centre, where she performed as the leader of the artist’s string quartet. As a concertmaster, she participated in artistic events such as “On Broadway” with artists like Karen Edwards, Mark Preston, Natasza Urbańska, and Janusz Józefowicz at NOSPR Concert Hall and ICE Congress Centre, as well as at Marek Grechuta Festival in Świnoujście (Skaldowie, Amfiteatr in Świnoujście). That same year, she received the Jazz Personality of the Year Award at the IX Music Festival & Masterclass, where she took improvisation workshops led by Adam Bałdych, after which she began formal studies in jazz violin performance. She also received the Rector’s Scholarship for the best students at the Academy of Music.

In 2018, as part of the NFM Orchestra Academy, she participated in the “Side by Side” project with the Royal Concertgebouw Orchestra Amsterdam, conducted by Philippe Herreweghe. In 2019, she took part in prestigious masterclasses with the Kronos Quartet as part of the “50 for the Future” project promoting contemporary compositions. She also began a regular collaboration with artist Marek Piekarczyk, performing with his acoustic quintet at venues such as Stary Klasztor (Wrocław), Wytwórnia (Łódź), and Groteska Theatre (Kraków), while continuing her studies at the Fryderyk Chopin University of Music in the Department of Jazz and Popular Music under the guidance of Mgr. Mateusz Smoczyński.

In 2020, Aleksandra founded the KRVNSKA QUARTET, comprising Piotr Andrzejewski on piano, Maciej Baraniak on double bass, and Igor Falecki on drums. This ensemble significantly refined her compositional voice. In 2022, she was selected for the International Jazz Platform, an organization bringing together 50 artists and improvisers from around the world, which led to performances at Nasjonal Jazzscene in Oslo and Wytwórnia in Łódź. Also in 2022, she participated for the first time in JazzState, organized by Karolina Szewc, which greatly influenced her artistic development and opened new opportunities for collaboration with Polish artists.

In 2023, she began working with trumpeter Piotr Damasiewicz, forming the Damasiewicz/Kryńska Duo, and touring in Japan. In 2025, Aleksandra released her debut album something holy? featuring Piotr Damasiewicz (trumpet), Szymon Mika (guitar), Michał Aftyka (double bass), and Bartosz Szablowski (drums).

Throughout her career, Aleksandra Kryńska has performed on stage with numerous artists, including Dominik Wania, Anna Lauvdal, Shinpei Ruike, Kadota Kousuke, Michał Kapczuk, Raphael Rogiński, Andrzej Święs, Krzysztof Szmańda, Kamil Szuszkiewicz, and Wojciech Traczyk.
